Prof. Jianhui Liu | Precambrian geology | Research Excellence Award

Senior Research Fellow | Institute of Geology | China

Prof. Jianhui Liu is an accomplished researcher in Precambrian geology and tectonics, with a strong focus on the formation and evolution of continental crust and early Earth dynamics. His research addresses key questions related to Archean–Paleoproterozoic crustal growth, the onset of plate tectonics, and the geodynamic processes that shaped a habitable Earth. He applies advanced geochronological, isotopic, and elemental geochemical techniques, including zircon U–Pb dating and Lu–Hf isotopic analyses, to unravel complex magmatic, metamorphic, and tectonic histories of cratonic regions and orogenic belts. His work has significantly contributed to understanding crust–mantle differentiation, lithospheric evolution, and intracontinental deformation, particularly within the North China Craton and adjacent tectonic domains. With extensive publications in leading international journals, his research is widely recognized for its methodological rigor and its impact on global models of early continental evolution and long-term Earth system development
